2026 Track & Field Athletics Season will start again in October (Term 4) 2026

Juniors (6 - 11 years) - Tuesdays 4.00 - 5.00 pm

For Juniors (aged 6 to 11 years), we have a weekly club night (Tuesdays) during term 4 and term 1, 4.00pm - 5.00 pm. These involve children being put into groups based on age and them rotating every 10-15 minutes to try out a different discipline.

The first part of the season is focused on on developing key movement skills — building strong foundations through running, jumping, and throwing. This stage is all about confidence, coordination, and learning to move well in a fun, supportive setting.

The second part of the season is when we introduce a more structured and progressive development programme. This approach helps us: build on the skills athletes have already gained; introduce new disciplines in a clear, age‑appropriate way; and support long‑term athlete development while keeping sessions enjoyable and engaging. Each week will still centre on running, jumping, and throwing — but with more intentional progression and clearer learning goal

We hold Ribbon Days and Club Champs over the season and our athletes also have the chance to compete in Athletics New Zealand sanctioned events in other Centres/Clubs.

Your annual membership will cover you for the summer season.

Our winter harrier programme is also popular with the juniors and families, with runners /joggers /walkers all welcome. Events are family friendly with a range of distances on offer. Dates: April - September. (See Harriers under Sections.)
